Dr. Roy M. Broughton Jr. is Professor Emeritus, Polymer and Fiber Engineering, Auburn University, Auburn AL. Dr. Broughton graduated from North Carolina State University first in Pulp and Paper Technology then in Polymer and Fiber Science. He spent six years in Polyester Research at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company and 37 years at Auburn University. At Auburn he has spent most of his time teaching "nonwovens" and "structure and properties of fibers and polymers." His major research areas have been antimicrobial surfaces, fiber extrusion, braiding and fiber reinforced composites. Dr. Broughton is a long time TAPPI member and has been a regular presenter at many conferences over the years.
