Ten Scholarships Granted in 2022
A big part of what we do as a Fraternity is mentoring and offering support to college students. We now award Ten $1000 scholarships (up from Four in 2018; expanding to Ten in 2022!) each year, to each of the 10 schools listed below. Scholarships are funded from member dues, individual donations and endowments, and occasional corporate donations. Please encourage your employers to participate. We are a 501C(3) organization. Their donations are always welcome!

We presently support 10 P&P schools; they are:
- Auburn University
- University of Washington
- Western Michigan University
- Miami University (Ohio)
- Georgia Institute of Technology – added in 2019
- University of Minnesota – added in 2019
- North Carolina State University
- University of Maine
- University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point
- State University of New York – College of Environmental Sciences and Forestry
At our 2021 annual meeting we voted to increase the annual scholarships given to 10 when Emeritus member, Randy Kimpfbeck came forward offering to fund two additional scholarships in memory of his mentor and deceased member, John Hayes. All scholarships are funded by the fraternity through its treasury or by endowments by members. Scholarships that are being awarded for 2022:
5 “at large” scholarships – funded by the membership dues and investment earnings plus 5 others funded by endowments and memorials
- L. Kitchens Memorial Scholarship – partially funded by Emeritus Member Charlie Wall with balance by the fraternity
- Ken Brown Memorial Scholarship – His widow, Betty Straw Brown decided not to fund a scholarship in 2022 but may return in 2023.
- Sandy Nyman Memorial Spousal Support Scholarship – funded by her widower, member Gary Nyman – inaugural scholarship was awarded in 2019.
- L.J. “Junior” West Scholarship – funded by his son, member Mike West - inaugural scholarship was awarded in 2019.
- John Hayes Memorial/Randy Kimpfbeck Scholarship 1 and Scholarship 2. funded by Randy Kimpfbeck named after his mentor, John Hayes, who was charter member of Couch Pit University. Two inaugural scholarships are being funded in 2022.
If possible, we invite the scholarship winners to receive their check at our induction banquet. If that is not possible, we send the check to the school so they can make the presentation there.
