President and CEO of Stora Enso Receives TAPPI/PIMA 2023 Executive of the Year Award
TAPPI, the leading technical association for the worldwide pulp, paper, tissue, packaging and converting industries, today announced that Annica Bresky, President and CEO of Stora Enso, has been named TAPPI/PIMA Executive of the Year.
Bresky took over as CEO in December 2019, and has served as a member of the Group Leadership Team since joining the company in 2017. Before assuming her current position, she was Executive Vice President of Stora Enso’s Consumer Board Division. Prior to joining Stora Enso, she held various executive leadership positions, including President and CEO of Iggesund Paperboard AB in 2013-2017 and Managing Director at BillerudKorsnäs AB from 2010-2013.
In making the announcement, TAPPI President and CEO Larry N. Montague said, “Annica is an extraordinary leader. In addition to her unwavering focus on implementing processes that further develop Stora Enso’s strategies, values and committment to renewable packaging and sustainability, she also fosters a culture of empowerment and positive energy.”
“Being selected as the TAPPI/PIMA Executive of the Year is a great honor,” said Bresky. “ For nearly 60 years, TAPPI has meticulously selected the winners of this prestigious award and I am deeply honored to join the ranks of some our industry’s best and most respected leaders.”
Bresky is a Board member of the Confederation of European Paper Industries (CEPI), the Swedish Forest Industries Federation (Skogsindustrierna), Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) and Ørsted A/S. She is also a member of The Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA) and the Executive Committee of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD).
She holds an Honorary Doctor of Technology from Lappeenranta–Lahti University of Technology LUT since 2022. Bresky was awarded the RISI Woman of the Year PPI award in 2022.
Bresky holds an Executive MBA and a M.Sc. in Aquatic and Environmental Engineering.
The award will be officially presented at TAPPICon, April 22-26, 2023 in Atlanta, GA.
